High lignan flaxseed oil health benefits

High lignan flaxseed oil health benefits. What is the opinion on fish oil supplements, and why not just take linseed oil because it has omega 3? How much does it take daily?

coconut oil, flaxseed, flaxseed oil, healthy oil, Herbal, herbs, natural remedy,

The answer is really very simple. There are several omega-3 fatty acids. They are called ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). ALA is found in linseed oil while EPA and DHA are present in fish oils. ALA is able to convert to EPA than DHA, but it takes several enzymatic steps in the body, and not everyone effectively converts ALA to EPA and DHA, especially with aging.

Lignans are a type of fiber and at the same time a type of phytoestrogen - a chemical similar to the human hormone estrogen. Flax seeds are the valuable source of lignans. If you eat lignans, bacteria in the digestive tract turn them inside estrogen-like materials, called enterodiol also enterolactone, that has anti-tumor impacts. Lignans and other flaxseed components may also have antioxidant properties, i.e. they may reduce the activity of free radicals damaging cells.

Flax seeds have a pleasant nutty flavor and a good taste sprinkled on salads, cooked vegetables or cereals. The oil is quite tasty, too, but expensive.

In addition to omega-3s, the other two components of flaxseed, lignans, and fiber are also being studied for their health benefits, says Diane Morris, Ph.D., RD, Flax spokesperson. Council of Canada. Lignans, for example, work both as phytoestrogens also antioxidants, while the fiber contained in flaxseed is both soluble and insoluble. Flax is an interesting mix of nutrients and other ingredients.
